Groover's Lum '94photo by Martin A. Enchana Yep..that's me singing.
Naza (now,
The Times) far left, helping us out on guitar as
Aldrin Sajuki@Dom has left us for studies (ITM,Shah Alam).
Bobby@Abeng on drums (now playing with
the Drives) and
Donny on bass (now working with BMW Brunei). We called ourself "
Groover's Lum" (don't ask me why...maybe something got to do with Sesame St: Groover) A good friend of mine,
Martin A. Enchana kept most of our old photos and videos...i hope he still have it somewhere. I miss our kick-ass moment, united with all other bands, kids screaming-hungry like a wolf, supportive and the joy of indie music scene in Kuching, Sarawak. Britrock, Britpop was the answer for our lush of rock music. Of course there's Grindcore, Death Metal, Punk, Grunge, Ballad/Glam Rock around..but Britrock or "the shoegaze" was the choice for most of us. Simply because it can be heavy, slow, lots of noise, space-rock, pop at the same time. Thanks to the Satellite Dish (for FREE cable TV) that some of our buddies have at home and BBC radio station signal that we get.

Amri (
INSANE, Naza's band back then) and
Donny (
Groover's Lum) my childhood buddy and my best friend. We share the same school bus (
AUNTIE) in the 80's and our enemy was
HENRY PANG (another school bus), where other student on it! Yeah, those were like high-class kids..
.you know laaa..we're kinda middle-class kids with bad stupid attitude. We'll spit at the bus and throwing things at them. What an asshole. Them. Not us. Asshole. Finest moment.
Don gave me a
ping-pong bat when we're still in Primaty school. I was like...wow..cool...as if i know how to play ping-pong. I hate ping-pong. It's a tough game which need a good body movement and reflection.
It's not that cool laaa...Football kick-ass brother. Anyway, thank you Don, i still kept it somewhere in the house. You're a great friend. I wrote a song called, "
i hate ping-pong" ( it's in 1 of the compilation called
EAT THIS. A project that Amri did in the early 90's. But, sorry boys and girls...
NO CD format or
MP3. It's only in
cassette format. 1 of Kuching's classic released. Pure punk-pop, Britpop stuff.) The song as for me, it sounds like catchy-punk-pop shit. The kids love that song back then (
that's what people say aaa..not self-promo about myself), but i think the song suck. EEEeee....it gets into my bone!
Abeng the drummer and Niswan Gai the drummer.photo by Martin A. Enchana
Groover's Lum drummer
Bobby Cosmas@Abeng. Ha! Ha! Ha! We did so much together, way before we start our first band together with Don,
NEW DICK (inspired by
NEW DEAL skateboard). The three of us, me, Don and Abeng...we have so much story to tell. We've should write a book about ourself and the changes of our beloved Kuching. A great friend. Abeng currently playing for
The Drives.
Niswan@Gai (
Rocket Flower), my highschool classmate. Another talented drummer. We'll jammed together after school (
most of the time we'll ponteng sekolah...or AWOL from class. well, when you're in FORM SIX...who cares?! anyway, our teacher were kinda fed-up with both of us. we'll do as what we pleased as long we don't do anything to piss them off. good deal. the best deal).
Cherub Rock by
Smashing Pumpkins is a must. And of course, our
Godsend Radiohead and beloved,
Jesus And Mary Chain.
