The kind that warms up the corners of my cold room
She's got a sunshine smile...."

yep..our beloved niece is back again. Staying about a week here in Subang with me and Mimie, along with her Mom and Grandma. It's good to have her back here with us. There's so much joy in house. "Look at you. You've grown!"

Groover's Lum '94

Yep..that's me singing. Naza (now, The Times) far left, helping us out on guitar as Aldrin Sajuki@Dom has left us for studies (ITM,Shah Alam). Bobby@Abeng on drums (now playing with the Drives) and Donny on bass (now working with BMW Brunei). We called ourself "Groover's Lum" (don't ask me why...maybe something got to do with Sesame St: Groover) A good friend of mine, Martin A. Enchana kept most of our old photos and videos...i hope he still have it somewhere. I miss our kick-ass moment, united with all other bands, kids screaming-hungry like a wolf, supportive and the joy of indie music scene in Kuching, Sarawak. Britrock, Britpop was the answer for our lush of rock music. Of course there's Grindcore, Death Metal, Punk, Grunge, Ballad/Glam Rock around..but Britrock or "the shoegaze" was the choice for most of us. Simply because it can be heavy, slow, lots of noise, space-rock, pop at the same time. Thanks to the Satellite Dish (for FREE cable TV) that some of our buddies have at home and BBC radio station signal that we get.

Amri the bassist and Don the bassist.

Amri (INSANE, Naza's band back then) and Donny (Groover's Lum) my childhood buddy and my best friend. We share the same school bus (AUNTIE) in the 80's and our enemy was HENRY PANG (another school bus), where other student on it! Yeah, those were like high-class kids...you know laaa..we're kinda middle-class kids with bad stupid attitude. We'll spit at the bus and throwing things at them. What an asshole. Them. Not us. Asshole. Finest moment.
Don gave me a ping-pong bat when we're still in Primaty school. I was like...wow..cool...as if i know how to play ping-pong. I hate ping-pong. It's a tough game which need a good body movement and reflection. It's not that cool laaa...Football kick-ass brother. Anyway, thank you Don, i still kept it somewhere in the house. You're a great friend. I wrote a song called, "i hate ping-pong" ( it's in 1 of the compilation called EAT THIS. A project that Amri did in the early 90's. But, sorry boys and girls...NO CD format or MP3. It's only in cassette format. 1 of Kuching's classic released. Pure punk-pop, Britpop stuff.) The song as for me, it sounds like catchy-punk-pop shit. The kids love that song back then (that's what people say aaa..not self-promo about myself), but i think the song suck. EEEeee....it gets into my bone!

Abeng the drummer and Niswan Gai the drummer.

Groover's Lum
drummer Bobby Cosmas@Abeng. Ha! Ha! Ha! We did so much together, way before we start our first band together with Don, NEW DICK (inspired by NEW DEAL skateboard). The three of us, me, Don and Abeng...we have so much story to tell. We've should write a book about ourself and the changes of our beloved Kuching. A great friend. Abeng currently playing for The Drives.
Niswan@Gai
(Rocket Flower), my highschool classmate. Another talented drummer. We'll jammed together after school (most of the time we'll ponteng sekolah...or AWOL from class. well, when you're in FORM SIX...who cares?! anyway, our teacher were kinda fed-up with both of us. we'll do as what we pleased as long we don't do anything to piss them off. good deal. the best deal). Cherub Rock by Smashing Pumpkins is a must. And of course, our Godsend Radiohead and beloved, Jesus And Mary Chain.

PiA FRAUS!

Pia Fraus started in 1998 in Tallinn, Estonia when six art school students (Kärt Ojavee, Kristel Loide, Rein Fuks, Tõnis Kenkmaa, Reijo Tagapere and Joosep Volk) came together. First gig was in spring 1999. After some concerts they started recording their first album (Wonder What It\\\'s Like) which was released in spring 2001 by themselves. Then they sent some demos to different labels and next full length album (In Solarium) was released under Clairecords (Sacramento, CA, USA) in summer 2002. Kristel left the band and Eve Komp replaced her. In autumn 2003 Clairecords released Plastilina EP which included tracks from Wonder What It\'s Like. Before that Margus Voolpriit replaced Joosep. At the beginning of 2004 VinylJunkie released In Solarium with bonus tracks in Japan. In September later that year Mooie Island EP was released under their own label SekSound. In spring 2005 Vinyl-Junkie Recordings released compilation CD \"Sailing On A Grapefruit Lake\" in Japan which also includes two videos. Winter 2006 saw the birth of Pia Fraus\\\' next LP \"Nature Heart Software\" released by Seksound. The band has shared the stage with artists like Ulrich Schnauss, Animal Collective, Frida Hyvönen, Fleckfumie, Suburban Kids With Biblical Names. Pia Fraus has been remixed by Hood (Domino), Bill Wells (Domino, Geographic, Karaoke Kalk), Guther (Morr Music), Miwon (City Center Office), Fleckfumie (After Hours), Mondii (Spekk).

The Alphonsus

Samuel, Steve"O", me and my mom; Christina.

Yeah, our latest family photo for this year. Since my Dad, Alphonsus Valentine Patrick past away 3 years ago; it made us even closer. It was the saddest moment for us, especially Mom. It hit her hard. Sad. Alone. Well..the boys are here for you.

Sam, the youngest among us..just got his new job. Finally. Rather than doing nothing. A week after this photo taken, he had an accident and escaped unhurt. Lucky, bastards! He was trying to avoid a motorbike and slammed the brake hard. Skidded and flew off from the main road. Fuckin' asshole, the motorbike just left him without helping. So-called friendly, helpful Malaysians. The biker could have died if Sam didn't avoid him. The car? Well...i think it's gone man. Jesus. Airbag is your best new favourite song for life! I think he should have driven the M1- Abraham.

My late Dad is gonna piss about this. But, the most important thing is that, Sam is fine and safe.

Steve "O". Hahahahah...my best partner in playing the classic "Contra" on Micro Genius Nintendo! Skateboarding is what he does best, besides riding the new PDRM bike. Hahahahah!

Riding in the bowl. I think this photo was taken at Shah Alam Extreme Park. The skate park was awesome.

They Will Kill Us All @ Urbanscapes 2008

These guys are good. Watching Fizul (vox) on the stage, reminds me; Scott Weiland of Stone Temple Pilots (yess, i do love STP). Yeah, this guy has style and attitude on stage. The band is just fuckin' brilliant. All of them. With Ihsan keep on pumping the beat, "cheerful" Amir on bass, Edwin and David with their riffs, distorted-noise-delayed-reverb-shifter makes me happy. I miss those and they brought it back to me. Great chemistry from both guitarist. Damn. I must confess, I miss Ewan on guitar for Telebury. And the best part, i must say.. they're not just a good musician, they are fuckin' friendly too. Well..David is funny. Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Now, i know that am younger than him. Ha! Ha! Ha! Doesn't matter anyway. What a nice guy. Thank you for the Ribena.

They Will Kill Us All. I've really enjoyed their set and wish it could be longer. Nevermind, less-sweetness is better than letting it all-go. My kind of coffee. "O" Kurang manis.

Oh! Here's the video..from Youtube. Me and Faisal at front stage (facing Edwin). Enjoying huh?..

SONIC CATHEDRAL

London April 30th
2000hrs
The Social
5 Little Portland St (just off Great Portland st)
Nearest tube will be Oxford Circus.

Went there for a pint of GUINNESS with Owen Nicholas. He told me it's a cool place to hang out and have to some drinks while enjoying some the shows there.

It was one the best nights i had in London. I meet Ulrich Schnauss and James of MAPS (doing a DJ set). Oh, man..didn't really thought gonna meet them personally, we chat for awhile, i had to ask for their signature for sure ( Owen was running out to get a copy of the poster for me, thanks alot bro..) and both of them are fuckin' friendly. STEADY POK!

I really hope they'll come over to Malaysia someday. Do check them out, if you're into shoegaze, ambient, electronica .

Sam, you should have joined us that night...next time, check the "NAME LIST"!

london oh london

stylophone

The weather was bad for the past two days. It's been raining, drizzling, stop for awhile, and there she goes again. Owen told me it was fine a few days before. Damn, not for me i guess.
I was watching SkyNews (about this sick guy somewhere in Austria, locked his daughter in a cellar for 24 years, rape her,
fathering seven children, Josep Fritzl confessed to burning the body of one child after it died in infancy, man...what tha fuck?!)
in my room (Copthorne Tara Hotel, i'll stay there when i fly to London) somewhere in Kensington High Street while waiting for Owen. We planned to go for lunch somewhere near by then head to Denmark Street as i need to check out some gear for my band. As i looked outside, damn...the weather didn't change a bit. Dark clouds, drizzling wet, gothic, cold. macam sial. very the "Elbow" "The Cure" mood.

Anyway, Owen came over and we head straight to a Chinese restaurant called "STICK & BOWL". Had our makan there, Owen seems enjoying his noodle. Usually, i'll go to Bayswater for lunch but the weather was kinda suck so might as well we just go somewhere near by the High Street Kensington station. From there, we'll hit to Tottenham Court Road station.

There's a couple of cool guitar store that you'll find here in Denmark St. From new, used, custom, vintage. You name it, they've got it. I was looking for Fender Blender but it's quite expensive here.
£199.00. I guess it's our RM rates against theirs. I think getting it in the States would be a better option. Oh yeah, me and Owen did tried the Theremin. Cool stuff, sounds cooler if you added some delays, phaser or some kind of other modulation effects. Owen was thinking to get one. I would have bought it if the price tag was reasonable for me. £99.00. That's heavy for me.

At one of the store, i only could have a Stylophone reissue for
£20.00 Yep, i bought it.There's plenty of vintage stuff that you can find here, but one thing for sure, it's costly and some are quite big to bring home. I guess it would be my new toy for now. You can experiment with other modulation pedals. Hee..hee..hee..

Thanks Ad...

"I knew there was something fishy about Telebury and Farid Ali. I finally figured out the connection. Ed from Telebury IS Farid Ali. Expect to see Telebury perform with a gambus."
by Adlin

It would be cool, if i could play a gambus. gotta learn from now then.

J.G Ballard

James Graham Ballard

gonna start to read his novels. "Empire of the Sun" (a film directed by S. Spielberg) was a true story of his life during the WWII. it move me to tears. this was a few years back. dumb me, i didn't know he wrote it. until recently. a friend recommends "Crash". mmm...we'll see how it goes, for a start.

dream fender blender

am looking forward for this.

There are few Fender products with as much "indie cred" as the Fender Blender. Once thought of as an overly harsh fuzz pedal, the Blender, thanks to players like Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins and Kevin Shields of My Bloody Valentine, is now a coveted, and rare, vintage pedal. Original Blender pedals routinely sell on ebay for between $300-400. Like we have done with guitars & amps, we are reissuing this pedal to satisfy the demand that has surged past the supply on the vintage market.
The beauty of this pedal is that it does not sound like anything else on the market. It has a totally unique voice.
This is a pedal made for players who want to create instead of copy. With a bit of experimentation, a player can get countless sounds out of this pedal, some that were intended and some that were not.
The Blender can be used for leads by metal players looking for an ultra-aggressive tone. This will replace other Octave/Fuzz pedals on pedalboards throughout the land.
Fender® Blender™ Custom
A reissue of the classic octave/fuzz pedal sold by Fender from 1968 to 1977.

dream_anatomy

human anatomy always fascinates me. it shows us, how complex we are. we need to discover our own inner self before others. we lack of that. yes, we are. lack of courtesy to others. smart? not yet, we're almost there. we just learned through history.
